The Good Food: gourmet food and solidarity

On May 27th and 28th in Reggio Emilia a grand event was held to help rebuild Norcia

Solidarity is a sentiment that can be manifested in many different ways. It can be a hug, a smile, a gift or even a range of delicious dishes. The Good Food is an important solidarity event that, like many good ideas, came into being at the dinner table. To be more precise, at the table of chef Gianni D’Amato and his wife Fulvia Salvarani, owners of the Caffè Arti e Mestieri restaurant in Reggio Emilia. This amiable couple decided they wanted to return the support they had received after the 2012 earthquake that forced them to close Rigoletto, their Michelin two-star restaurant in Reggiolo. So on Sunday 28th May, Piazza Martiri del 7 Luglio will host a grand Street Food festival at which approximately 25 operators will offer high quality specialities from both Umbria and Emilia. The festival will feature a number of special shows too, including show cooking and DJ sets. And in the evening the Caffè Arti & Mestieri will host a highly exclusive event: a gala dinner prepared by Gianni and Federico D’Amato. In the courtyard of the restaurant where the two chefs have worked for years, an aperitif with finger food will be served, followed by a gourmet dinner. The evening will be a top-class culinary experience for only 50 people who can reserve their place by taking part in a special online charity auction. All the money raised from this initiative will be donated to the Arca Project organised by “I love Norcia”, an association set up to sustain and promote the Norcia area, currently suffering the aftermath of an earthquake, in order to rebuild the town and relaunch the local community by providing training, employment and social aid.

Canali&C will be one of the organisers and promoters of the event, along with Caffè Arti e Mestieri, ARCI Reggio Emilia, the Boorea cooperative, the restaurant-pizzeria Piccola Piedigrotta, and the Food Innovation Program. Our agency will be responsible for the communication process and for setting up the location in Piazza Martiri del 7 Luglio.
